In Beautiful Lake Tawakoni, Texas
For Our Fall Writers Retreat

Grab your iPad® or your Notebook and join us! This fall, SPH experts host an exciting writers retreat! Bring a couple of hard copies of your working manuscript, your cabin/camping gear, and you are set!

Our editors, writers, and staff will give you one-on-one help. We will help unblock your creative flow. We will propel you toward your personal writing goals. New to writing? Just beginning to learn the craft? Are you in the process of writing your life story? SPH staff and editors will help you get there.

Each day is packed with workshops filled with exciting information on the art of writing. Some of what you will learn in our workshops include:

  • – The Creative Process of Writing
  • – Developing Your Own Style
  • – Keys To Excellence
  • – Making Money As A Writer
  • – Effective Christian Writing In A Non-Christian World
  • – Technical Details To Writing Well

                ……. And Much More!!!

Each afternoon, you will spend group time brainstorming and one-on-one time with one of our facilitators for critiques, tips, and polishing your work.

In the evening, enjoy quiet time, social time, fishing, playing sports, swimming, or any number of relaxing activities available at Lake Tawakoni. Lake Tawakoni is well known in Texas as the Catfish Capital — boasting both the largest number, and some of the largest catfish in the state. If you enjoy fishing or eating catfish, then you will want to grab a pole and fry one up!

The cabins we stay in are surrounded by herds of deer and other wild animals. So you will have ample opportunity to enjoy God’s creation and draw creative inspiration from your environment. Our cabins are ideal — close enough to one another to fellowship and build relationships, and yet isolated enough to retreat and relax.

Lake Tawakoni is approximately 55 miles east of Dallas, and “off the grid”. So, you will fully enjoy a “retreat” from the grind of the city and your normal workplace. Plan to bring your iPad® or Notebook, a couple of hard copies of your manuscript, unplug, unwire, unwind, and let your creative juices rejuvenate.
